Tamil Nadu State has dry, sub humid to semi arid tropic climate which is strikingly different from the general climate of the country due to its topographical features and geographical area.The state receives its maximum rainfall during October, November and December (postmonsoon) months, while rest of the country gets during June, July, August and September months (monsoon). Tamil Nadu is most vulnerable maritime state in India particularly to tropical cyclones and their associateds to surges .It is also known for high inter and intra seasonal rainfall variability and frequently subjected to extreme weather conditions such as floods and droughts.
